In Tight Times, Medical Schools Market Themselves

Hospitals stepped up their advertising in 2011, and some newcomers to the national marketing game are academic medical centers. While the coast-to-coast commercials help attract faculty and students, they’re also aimed at getting more paying patients to travel for treatment.

The biggest spenders on advertising are, not surprisingly, the household names in medical care. Mayo Clinic, Mount Sinai and New York Presbyterian led the way for the first half of 2011.

Hearing Devices Going High-Tech

-New technology is allowing people to hear things they have never been able to hear before.

At age two, a viral infection took Kelly Schwabenbauers hearing. She tried a variety of hearing aids which went over the ear, or in the ear.

“I wasnt really satisfied with them. A lot of ringing and ear aches,” Schwabenbauer said.

She asked her doctor if there was anything else she could try.

Because she had moderate hearing loss she was a good candidate for a partially implanted device to help her hear. These have become available over the last 10 years.

The coolest thing about putting together products for all of you is the feedback that I get. Here is a note from Chase Scott, who recently picked up CRUSH: Total Gripper Domination.
